How to Tune Into Your Truth During Your Menstrual Cycle

Your menstrual cycle gives you a few gifts each month. Sometimes that gift is extra energy, other times, it’s exhaustion, but one gift you might not realize it gives you is clarity. Each phase of your menstrual cycle impacts you differently, and as your hormones and energy shift, it also shifts your focus which is why we built the Agenda App so you can track your cycle and use it to your advantage in work and life. Here are the pieces of clarity each phase gives you and how to tune into your truth during your menstrual cycle.

Follicular: What you desire.

During this Follicular phase, your Estrogen rises, and your energy returns after you have finished bleeding. The sparks of inspiration and enthusiasm are signposts for you to follow. Not everything needs to be done immediately; there’s no need to burn out or rush through your list this week. That said, write down what brings you extra joy and energy this week and see if you can’t weave additional pieces of that into the rest of your month. What you long for during this phase or think you can accomplish is excellent fodder for creating goals for your future.

Ovulation: What you adore.

As your Estrogen reaches its peak during your Ovulation stage, you’ll find yourself turned on and tuned in to the needs of the people around you. Your nurturing side can come out, so take the time to be grateful and aware of what feels grounding and at home around you. There may be things you think are essential to your day-to-day living that doesn’t feel as life-giving as your 10 minutes of tea with your partner at the end of the night where you talk about your days. Knowing what you love in your current life can make you more present in the moments you have.

Luteal: What you are done with.

The odds are that if you menstruate, you deal with over-giving, people-pleasing, and stress that you don’t need and isn’t yours to take on. The feelings are usually large and in charge during the Luteal phase, the 6-10 days before you bleed. Although feelings are not facts, they can point us to the dissonance between our truth and actions. Are there friendships that need to end? Agreements or obligations that you are dragging past their expiration stage?

Menstrual: Where you need more space

Have you ever been in the middle of your period and are ready to run away and build a tiny cabin in the woods or a house on the beach? (Or maybe it’s not just your period, but you feel this all the time) Defensive frustration is good clarity around where you could use more breathing room. Do you need to move your body every day or go on a walk just to get out of the house to a local forest or around the block? Is your schedule overbooked? Are you getting the sleep you need? Feeling cramped and noticing WHERE you feel the pressure during your period (besides your abdomen) can help you create better boundaries or room in your life for you actually to live.

Let us know what clarity looks like for you during your menstrual cycle or what you notice this week.

Not sure where you are on your cycle? You can grab the App on Google Play here, or on the Apple Store here! Want another way to track and plan? Download our pdf planner of The Agenda. here!
